Ehlana, Queen of Elenia, had been poisoned. A deep enchantment
sustained her life, but only while the Knights aiding it still lived - and already they
were dying, one each month.
The Sparhawk, Knight and Queen's Champion learned that the cure for the poison was the Bhelliom, the great jewel lost when Sarak of Thalesia died in battle, five hundred years before.
Sparhawk and his companions set forth to find King Sarak's grave by raising ghosts of those who had perished in that ancient battle. The Seeker, an insectile monster spawned of the evil god Azash, hounded their every step. Still Sparhawk pressed on, driven by desperate need. They had to find Bhelliom before his queen would perish. They must not fail.

| It's really hard to make a sequel to something that's as good as the first, but Eddings comes pretty damn close. I thought that the prologue of this one and the prologue of The Diamond Throne should have been switched around. I also thought that Ghwerig could have put up a better fight (he got OWNED!!!) because it would have been a little more dramatic. On the other hand, it would be more realistic that a highly trained knight and his squire would be able to deal with a troll with the level of difficulty that they had. Oh well, it was still one kickass fight! | |||

| Super politically incorrect. A blast in a bi- polarity universe, bad against good with all kinds Christian notions and references. Very fun to read again and again, well thought, well written. The funny part is the other books, that follow the Ellenium, which are politically correct and reverse many characters. | |||
