She soars above a world of
warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she
has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for three thousand
years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the
saga that is the Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles.
Her hair streaked white by her father's first touch, her
mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara begins life in her
Uncle Beldin's tower, and in the prehistorical, magical Tree that stands in the middle of
the Vale. There, she first learns the reaches of her powers. There she assumes the bird
shapes that will serve her on her adventures. And there she starts on the path toward her
destiny as Duchess of Erat, shepherdess of the cause of good, adversary of Torak the
One-Eyed Dragon God, and guardian of the worlds last, best hope: the heir to the Rivan
throne.
Here is the legendary life story of a woman of wit,
passion, and complex emotions, a woman born of two majestic parents who could not have
been more unlike one another. Ordained to make peace and make war, to gain love and lose
love, Polgara lives out her family's rich prophecy in the ceaseless struggle between the
Light and the Dark.
Polgara is the epic culmination of a magnificent saga,
and a fitting farewell to a world which, once experienced, will never be forgotten.

Polgara is one of my favourite characters so I loved this book!
Did you know that as a tribute to David and Leigh Eddings, a demon in one of the episodes
of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was named the 'Polgara demon'!

The only bad thing I can see in this book was Polgara being
absolutly perfect. But it was very enjoyable, funny, rich and three dimensional and kept
me up late into the night.

Yes, Polgara is perfect, but we've known that from the begining.
Seriously Pol is not perfect she is very complex, and holds many opinions that most of the
people around her go along with out of fear or love. She has made mistakes and she has
needed to be held up by her family, otherwise she COULD have faced Torak alone. She's not
perfect but she is one tough cookie...
Polgara is most definitely my favorite character.

If you've seen my other reviews you will already know I'm
seriously in love with these books and this one was no exception. Only complaint I have is
that we still don't know what the twins were, boys, girls, one of each? I know that David
& Leigh had very specific reasons about not revealing the twins' sex ie. no spin off
stories etc. but please, please, please won't you reconsider!

This is the best book that I have read in my entire life. I look
forward to reading the rest of the novels by David and Leigh Eddings. I am a VERY picky
reader, and I swept through this book like a fish in the water.
Pol is a true feminist I love the way she parries with Old Wolf
but also the acknowledgement of her sacrifice to Beldaran's line When o when will we know
the sex of the twins and see more stories on the bookshelves of their adventures. And what
a story on the adventures of Geran (Belgeran)?

OH MY GOSH this is the best book I have read in my life! I just
started reading Polgara about 3 weeks ago and now I'm almost finished with Belgarath, so
I'll be searching for the first book in The Belgariad soon. I must say when I read The
Lord of the Rings I thought no book could be better, but the Eddings have proved me wrong!
I stayed up until about 2 in the morning reading it every day, and no book has EVER made
me do that before. GO EDDINGS!

I absolutely love this book.Usually when people read this book
they love Beldaran her sister but I love Polgara. She is so strong and amazing. I simply
couldn't put this book down from start to finish. Her life story is truly worth sitting
down and reading. My favorite part was when she was a dancer named Polanna. It was the
best book I have ever read.

Definitely! Polgara is the most intriguing character. I
absolutely adore her and she looks perfect! Witty and clever retorts!
Polgara is certainly well written. It is awfully compressed,
however, given its narrative. It has decent development of Polgara's character, but lacks
the epic scale and depth that the Lord of the Rings. I think that you have to be an
Eddings' fan to follow the setting. My thought is that, if you like Eddings you will enjoy
it. Everyone else should really read the Belgariad first.
This book R-O-C-K-S!!!!!WOOHOO!!!

One of the best books (and series) I have ever read. I once read
