Battle had been joined and fought and won.  The Pandion Knight Sparhawk had met the forces of the foul God Cyrgon upon the field of valor, and justice and might had carried away the day.  But even in Sparhawk's moment of triumph had come a crushing blow.  For far away from the battlefield, Cyrgon's hired minions had by treachery and stealth stolen away Sparhawk's very heart: they had kidnapped the beautiful Queen Ehlana, his wife.

Sparhawk would have to surrender Bhelliom, the awesome jewel of power, into their accursed hands - or Ehlana would die.

Their goal had been to render Sparhawk impotent.  But Cyrgon's lackeys, in their craven, puny souls, had far misjudged that knight's unwavering resolve to fight on for his queen with every resource at his command.

Aided by stalwart friends, Sparhawk charted a plan of attack, knowing that Ehlana's life hung in the balance.  The road ahead promised peril for all those he held dear, but none of his companions flinched at the awesome task before them, even knowing that Cyrgon had summoned up forces of evil from Tamuli's dark past, and from sick and fetid places beyond mere human ken.

But the full magnitude of the danger before them was yet to be revealed.  For in his towering hubris, Cyrgon had dared that which was forbidden even to the Gods.  He had called forth Klael, Bhelliom's opposite, a monster eager to rend the very world asunder.

Ravening destruction stalked all the lands.  For from before time began, it was writ that Bhelliom must contend with its opposite for the fate of this world.  Even so must the man Sparhawk finally face the God Cyrgon, in mortal combat - and alone...

Where is Count Osril's messy and fully deserved death? That alone is worth another book! I tell you all what, let's all ask the Eddings' to do Sephrenia's autobiography and include Osril's demise in the prelude or epilogue. Perhaps Kalten could come to deliver her manuscript and an ear. Wouldn't that be festive? Anyone with violent ideas for the rat's demise, send them to me.

I think that all the books in the Elenium and in the Tamuli is good....But the Hidden City is one of the best.Eddings have done a really good jobb with this book....

If all magic power came from the Gods, how was Zalasta able to interrupt Sephrenia's wedding
when Cyrgon wal dead. Another thing. With the trolls now mortal, and with their habit of
killing each other, when they die out won't the troll gods disappear? And with the troll
gods gone, what happens to Zalasta and the others set on eternal fire?

I think the final book of this wonderful saga is the perfect final touch! It brings all the books together. It is where all the different people and parts of the story come together. People meet other people that they didn't know or had only heard of before. The magic of it is that you have been following all of these different characters through out the books and you finally get to see them MEET! There is the romance that went on from the beginning with Seprenia the present of the goddess Aphrael and the leader of the pandion nights, Vanion. There wedding is one of the most wonderful and exciting parts of the story. The triple identity of the goddess Aphrael is a very mind boggling and genius part of the story . There is also Calton who finally finds his hearts desire with the women he loves. Zalasta is revealed and punished for all the years and years of suffering that he put so many people threw, more specifically Sephrenia. the trolls are put on the same level as the rest of the population of the planet and become mortal. Last but not least, peace is made between the many populations that had been enemies for many many centuries. All because of the simplicity, confidence, courage, perseverance and love of one man, Sparhawk! I loved every character, good and bad, because they played there roles so very perfectly. The two Eddings minds put together give amazing, awesome, and wonderful results!!! If you want to let your mind and imagination run free this master peace saga is the reading entertainment you are looking for! I simply LOVED it!!!

What happens to Danae and Talen- has there ever been a marriage of a Godess and a mortal- ver- and that too a Styric Deity and an Elene Mortal- Wouldnt Azash have freaked out on this- and with a Styric monarch how would the subjects of Elenia do? Do the hunks- Bevier and Berit get married or do they continue to haunt the dreams of young maidens??!!

Hell yeah! Eddings is awesome, and this book conludes a wonderful series! The only disappointment was that Sparhawk gave his powers away, but we know Eddings won't be extending the story, so it's not as though it really matters.

May the love of the Child-Goddess pervade eternally amongst us!

A lot deeper than the belgariad - storytelling second to none. My only gripe is that eddings leaves us hanging on with so many things - what happens between talen and aphrael etc. I would personally have liked to see more of the other Styric Gods. Being introduced to Setra, Romulic was interesting - it would be fantastic if we could see more of them in another epic, but doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Can't wait for The Elder Gods series to come out.

Kudos on the entire series, and thanks for showing how stupid power is. I love how sparhawk gave up everything bhelliom offered. Keep the books coming
